Romero is more moody than cold-blooded as Dr. Halliday, and Kelly is the gal from his past who reminds the Dr. of his earlier, saner days as an obstetrician. Cast includes Randolph Scott, Nancy Kelly, Cesar Romero, Binnie Barnes, John Carradine, and Eddie Foy. (71 minutes,’39)
Disturbia: Kale has had his life turned upside down. His father’s death, which he feel responsible for has traumatized him badly. Snapping on an insensitive teacher, he punches the guy out. Instead of jail time he must serve a period of house confinement. Going stir crazy stuck at home, Kale, and his girlfriend Ashley, start spying on the neighbors. This voyeurism gets serious when they start to suspect that one of the neighbors is a serial killer.
Heartbreaker: Chicano Allende falls for WASP Dunlap among an ambiance of custom-fitted cars. Dull self sufficient production is displeasingly devoid of observations into the lifestyle it portrays. Look quick for Patty “Apollonia” Kotero. Cast includes Daybreak Dunlap, Peter Gonzales Falcon, Michael D. Roberts, Miguel Ferrer, Pepe Serna, and Rafael Campos. (90 minutes,’83)
Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he’s challenged by a “fantasy master,” his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes,’88)
Mac and Me: Sort of an E.T. copy in reference to Mac, an outer space being, and his plight in suburban L.A. It is more of a television advertisement than a film. There’s a production number set in a McDonald’s, and the alien lives on Coca-Cola. Cast includes Christine Ebersole, Jonathan Ward, Katrina Caspary, Lauren Stanley, and Jade Calegory. Above the Law: This is Steven Segal’s breakout movie. He plays a Chicago Police man who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is ‘above the law’. He uses his large body and martial arts skills to wreak havoc on the bad guys. Stars include Steven Segal, Pam Grier, and Sharon Stone. (1988 Action)
Halloween: Sixteen years ago, at the age of ten, Michael Myers was put in prison for slaughtering his stepfather, his sister, and her boyfriend. He has escaped from prison, and is headed back to Haddonfield with vengeance on his mind. Dr. Sam Loomis is frantically trying to track him down. He knows the true evil that exists in Michael.
Like Father Like Son: A heart surgeon unintentionally sprinkles an old Indian potion into his Bloody Mary and presto, he and his young child have switched identities. Cast includes Dudley Moore, Kirk Cameron, Margaret Colin, Catherine Hicks, Patrick O’Neal, and Sean Astin. (98 minutes,’87)
