Dangerous When Wet: A cute musical comedy, one of Esther’s best, in regards to a well to do family whose leading light tries to swim the English Channel. Vintage melodies contain “The Best Things in Life are Free,” “Just Think,” and “Varsity Drag”. New numbers contain “The French Lecture” and “Pass That Harmony Tube.” Cast includes June Allyson, Peter Lawford, Patricia Marshall, Joan McCracken, Ray McDonald, Mel Torme, Donald MacBride, Tom Dugan, and Clinton Sundberg. (95 minutes, 1947)

(112 minutes, 2002)

Red Sun: East meets West in this strange tale of a samurai fighter chasing a priceless Japanese sword stolen from a train crossing the American West. Cast includes Charles Bronson, Ursula Andress, Toshiro Mifune, Alain Delon, and Capucine. (112 minutes, 1972)

Rhinoceros: This is the Eugene Ionesco entry into the “Show of the Ludicrous” makes remorseful shift from the stage to the big screen as sales rep Wilder declines to comply by turning into a mess.
Frozen Assets: Low-octane joke trifle, in which Bernsen is moved to a new bank only to find it’s a sperm bank (get it?). He meets censored biologist Long and after a lot of wisecracks they find that they are drawn to each other. Cast includes Shelley Long, Corbin Bernsen, Larry Miller, Dody Goodman, Matt Clark, Paul Sand, Teri Copley, Gloria Camden, and Gerrit Graham. (96 minutes, 1992)

Air America: Guides Mel and Bob are part of the C.IA.’s smuggling operation in Laos throughout the Vietnam War. They crate anything and anyone anyplace. (112 minutes, 1990)

Southland Tales: An impressive cast is trashed in an over long, overwrought wallow set in 2008 Southern California three years after a catastrophic atomic assault has turned America into a patrol state. (144 minutes, 2007)

Ali Fear Eats the Soul: Widow Mira, in her 60s, falls in love with and weds an Arab 30 years her junior. Cast includes Brigitte Mira, EI Hedi Ben Salem, Barbara Valentin, Irm Hermann, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. (94 minutes, 1974)

Hannibal Rising: Here we see Hannibal as a youngster at the end of WW2 when he witnessed Nazi collaborators abusing his younger sis! As a youthful adult (Ulliel), empowered by his Japanese mothers sibling, he hunts down the killers and imposes cruel reprisal. A good piece of work however ponderous, dull and over donel, albeit on no account as gory as may be anticipated. Cast includes Gaspard Ulliel, Rhys Ifans, Gong Li, Helena Lia Tachovska, Dominic West, Aaron Thomas, Kevin McKidd, and Richard Brake. (121 minutes, 2007)

Spice World: A fantasy view of a few nights in the lives of the pop phenomenon The Spice Girls and their presence with road agent Grant.
